Chapter 52

In the beginning was the Tao.

All things issue from it;

all things return to it.

To find the origin,

trace back the manifestations.

When you recognize the children

and find the mother,

you will be free of sorrow.

. . .

  1. For me, the big life changer in chapter 52, is “If you keep your mind from judging. . .” Too often, I am upset because of my judgment of another's habits, their lifestyle and political leanings. When I am able to drop the personal action of judging others, I can maintain peace, comfort and joy.

    “Use your own light” . . . don’t be disturbed by the lights and vibrations of another. Sometimes, I remember the peace of my own connection with light. How? Will it forth. Rather than running away from the loudness of un-peace__I can become peace. Hold all life as one. Remember the unity of connection I felt in the hospital waiting room as others waited also. The behavior of “taking a moment” into myself can happen any where and at anytime. Anytime I think of peace, anytime I think of non-judgment, anytime I recognize another’s choices— is a time of letting go.

    Starr translation: "Have faith--Follow your own shining--Be aware of your own awareness --On the darkest nights you will not stumble." When in awareness, don't ignore what you're aware of. Today, this means zooming into the awareness of each footfall. This does not include worry about where to step. It does include the step itself --step into awareness of where you are now. "Be aware of your own awareness" gives the me of me the power to be trusted. I look back in memory and see the steps taken in trust of my own gut. That feeling, that action is the prelude to adventure. My own life is punctuated by these steps taken by means of trust in my own guideance. The journey of life includes highlights of adventure--stepping out and moving beyond the comfort zone.
