and is not intent upon arriving.

  1. LeGuin translation: "Good people teach people who aren't good yet; the less good are the makings of the good." The "teaching moments" of my life have been the scenes where I encounter the dark side in another, the abusive side. From these experiences, I learned to play the part of victim in a movie we were both viewing. The way out? I loved myself more than I loved the role of victim. I stopped accepting abuse. Very simple yet it took years and years to learn this lesson. Who is the teacher in a "bad" situation? The other guy. I am the student learning that self love is a choice and with that choice the dark fades and in its place a new light in which to stand. Who is here embodying the light? The teacher, and who is the teacher? It is reciprocal--both good and not so good.
