8 The supreme good is like water,
which nourishes all things without trying to
It is content with the low places that people disdain/
Thus it is like the Tao

She finds deep in her own experience the central truths of the art of living, which are paradoxical only on the surface: that the more truly solitary we are, the more compassionate we can be; the more we let go of what we love, the more present our love becomes; the clearer our insight into what is beyond good and evil, the more we can embody the good. Until finally she is able to say, in all humility, "I am the Tao, the Truth, the Life." S. Mitchell
Tao 8 is about water. How so? It is fluid, it flows around obstacles .. it sticks to nothing. It follows the land, the seasons, wind and rain. It follows the path of least resistance. Like water, awareness of the Tao flows forward and around. Go where it takes you. The moment you know you are in the moment: THIS is the miracle. It is when you no longer judge how to do it and are simply doing it. You are the leader at this point. Heartmind is open and receptive. You speak true words in economy. You travel through this day walking on mindful legs. The earth is level and balanced.
ReplyDeleteI had a root canal the other day. Being nervous and scared of pain, I concentrated on my breathing, following the breath in and breath out. And finding that place where god lives, deep inside behind the heart beats. The greatest of pleasures, meeting god here and dissolving. Meeting someone I love here .. someone who is me who is god who is you. No fear only suspension. Exquisite. I think I was like water, flowing like water.
tao 8
ReplyDeletelike water, i begin by flowing to the lowest level. i clear out trash and watch the past slip by.
water is of the earth, grounded. like water, i practice natural living.
water flows into whatever is ahead. i mindfully move into the new day.
water follows balance and refuses to flow up-hill. like water, i find even footing on level ground and speak truth in few words.
as water laps the shore, when I forget to look, a miracle bumps into this exact moment.
