When people see some things as beautiful,
other things become ugly.
When people see some things as good,
other things become bad.

She finds deep in her own experience the central truths of the art of living, which are paradoxical only on the surface: that the more truly solitary we are, the more compassionate we can be; the more we let go of what we love, the more present our love becomes; the clearer our insight into what is beyond good and evil, the more we can embody the good. Until finally she is able to say, in all humility, "I am the Tao, the Truth, the Life." S. Mitchell
"When her work is done, she forgets it."
ReplyDeleteShe doesn't stop living but the living is quite different. Every moment moves into expression and this is creativity without resistance. It is not that no-thing is done ... it is that in openness everything is done. Her mind opens and becomes all. Currently: my computer crashed!! My writings, my art, my one-of-a-kind WordArt, poetry, essays, submissions, etc. have been swallowed into darkness. My work is not done but was cut down midway. "Things arise and she lets them come. Things disappear and she lets them go." [As she screams the howl of a bat at midnight!]
Although opposites do define each other, follow each other and create each other. My challenge is to release the need to make a judgment or classify beautiful as good and ugly as bad....etc, etc, etc.
ReplyDeleteAh but to find the secret to teach without words. I see it every day but to realize it in my own life,
ahhhhh. I relish the thought.
How's the new Taoist? Have you learned any lessons from him yet?

Taoistic words from Baby Atticus:
ReplyDeleteIt is best to stay close to mother's breast. Yes, this is a judgement but look here:
"I drift like a wave on the ocean.
I blow as aimless as the wind.
I am different from ordinary people.
I drink from the Great Mother's breasts." (20)
